Bulacan State University - Sarmiento Campus History
"Great things starts from small begginings." In 1998, Cong. Angelito M. Sarmiento donated a 2-hectare lot in Kaypian, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to the Bulacan State University that shall serve as an extension campus of the University. In June of the same year, BSU-SJDM opened its extension classes at the Sarmiento Garments bldg. In Poblacion. Through the act of generosity, BSU-SJDM was named after the Sarmientos, BSU-Sarmiento Campus. This endeavor, further enhanced a vision in the making, an institution that would offer quality education geared towards the vision of the University, i.e., academic excellence, and cultivate the seeds of intellectual potential among students. BSU Sarmiento Campus started as the BSU San Jose Del Monte Campus offering the basic courses of the B.S. Engineering program. For more than two years, classes were held in an old edifice adjacent to the municipal building. This development was preceded by the donation of almost two hectares of land by Don Pablo Sarmiento and family located in private subdivision at Kaypian, city of San Jose del Monte. Subsequently, an 18 room building was built on the western side of the lot through the initiative of Congressman Angelito M. Sarmiento of the fourth legislative district of Bulacan, In August 2000, all classes were transferred to new site. The campus has since been known as the Sarmiento Campus. The course Bachelor in Industrial Technology (BIT) with specialization in Drafting and Electronics were initially offered in June 1999. In the succeeding school year, BIT major in Computer was offered. This campus is currently under the supervision of Director Ms. Zenaida J. Buendia.
